This LIFE magazine April 29, 1940 had an extremely interesting article about Fritz Thyssen an exiled German Industrialist, who reveals what was going on behind the Nazi “propaganda curtain” during the years just before our entrance into the war in December 1941. LIFE Magazine was the TV of the day. For ten cents, it was available to everyone every week and even if you could not buy it, you saw it at the newsstand. These photos of the German atrocities started to appear and it was very influential in turning public opinion to enter the war. The rolling Gallo in Poland was used to deter resistance.
